3) Understand the regulation of the media sector

Computer gaming is regulated by BBFC. Video games have always been under Scrutiny which means it has been examinational. Computer game industry in the UK has been increased and has developed 200 game studios and they are all spread around the UK.  In the UK also there is one of the largest markets for computer games; in 2009 the total size of the UK market was 3.31billion, including game hardware sales and software sales. People think that the images, storylines portrayed in video games and violence, could have difficult affects on people’s actions and behaviour. Most video games are exempt from BBFC classification. The video games industry is currently censored by the BBFC, Mr David Cooke while speaking on the topic recently said "This poll clearly shows parents support a regulatory system for games that is independent of the industry and UK based, reflecting UK sensibilities and sensitivities.”
Parents seem to be more worried with censoring parts of video games, rather than addressing the physiological issues their children might have, which could make them become murders and  rapist in the future. Parents don’t thing it’s their own child’s behaviour and attitude, they thing it is because of the video games that are available in stores and their children’s choose them and that’s how they learn bad things which can effect their brains.

The Television industry is protected by ofcom, which is the UK's communication regulator. They make sure that people in the UK get the best from their communication services and are protected from scams and sharp practices. They regulate TV and radio sectors, fixed line telecoms and mobiles. Plus the airwaves over which wireless devices operate. ofcom operates under the communications act 2003 which states that ofcom general duties should be to further the interests of citizens and of consumers.
